Finding a true passion is not easy. Pursuing that passion is even harder. Michael Mandapati, in this sense, is quite successful. His passion for beautiful carpets and textiles grew from a summer job as a college student in New Delhi, India, and he's been pursuing it ever since – for more than 20 years, all over the world. His background includes living and breathing in antique and decorative carpets, learning to identify the best options for each distinct space, project, and individual client.
In 2001, Michael founded Warp & Weft, a gallery of carpets with its foundation built on Michael's deep appreciation for and in-depth knowledge of antique rugs. In a relatively short period of time, Warp & Weft has established itself as an esteemed company as well as a preferred choice among New York's most talented interior designers and architects.
But Michael's endless avidity for placing beautiful carpets under his clients' feet didn't stop him there. In 2004, Michael launched the Warp & Weft Modern & Custom Collection. Inspired by the best of today's minimalist interiors, this new and innovative addition to Warp & Weft has brought admirers from around the world.
Designs in the Modern & Custom Collection boast beautifully rendered organic and structured designs constructed from the purest Tibetan wool and Indian mulberry silk. Hand-woven in Nepal by skilled artisans, these carpets are brought to its luxurious finish in Switzerland, where the washing and finishing is completed. These carpets are available in standard sizes and can be commissioned to custom colors and sizes.
